Designed for Relationship

According to Genesis 1, before humans were created, God existed in relationship. Some say this is a hint of the Trinity because the word for God in subsequent passages is Elohim (God in plural form). But one does not need to go into the Hebrew to notice something quite literal and obvious; God was not alone. “Let us…” Who is this referring to? We don’t know for sure, but we know he was not alone. He exists in relationship.

God created us to enjoy relationship with Him and each other.

Sadly, we don’t always get it right, and often our relationships get messed up. But it doesn’t change the fact that the God we worship wants a relationship with us! Jesus makes it possible for us to be redeemed and become what God intended.

Q. How do you feel you reflect the image of God and his love to others? Think of your closest relationships. What can you do to strengthen your bond with each other?
