Jesus Walks with You

Today’s devotional is about two men who were lost. They were going the wrong way. While the disciples were running to the empty tomb, these guys were leaving town, yacking away. While everyone was looking for the resurrected Jesus, they left him behind.

They were discouraged, disappointed, frustrated, and perhaps angry with God. They expected things to go or be a certain way, and when it did not happen, they bolted out of town. They were exposed to a great mystery of angels appearing, a body disappearing, and a man they cared about resurrecting from death, but they didn’t get it.

Thankfully, God loves us too much to leave us lost. His love pursues us, and Jesus rescues us. Jesus revealed himself to the women who came to the tomb (the ones who ran toward him), but also to the two men on the road to Emmaus (the ones who walked away from him). That is the nature of Jesus’ perfect and sacrificial love.
