Remain Faithful to the LORD
Hezekiah's Lesson #2: Remain faithful to the LORD
Just when we think we're holding tight to the LORD, we find out that He's been actually upholding us.
Hezekiah "remained faithful to the Lord." (2 Kings 18:6) Now, that's not easy to do on a good day, let alone when a crisis strikes, when a nation is against you, and a powerful king is breathing down your neck! Okay, you and I have not experienced that. But what about when you lose your job, end up in divorce, get a cancer diagnosis, find out your loved one is terminally ill, ______ (You fill in the blank)? It's not easy to remain faithful when life is great, but it can also be hard when we are in distress.
We want to trust God, but if we're honest, deep inside we may waver in our confidence that He is really going to come through. In those moments, we're tempted to turn to our "idols", those things that satisfy our momentary need or promise a quick fix; but rarely do they deliver, not faithfully, not for long, not for cheap.
"He opened the doors of the LORD"S temple." 2 Chronicles 29:3
Here is a tip from Hezekiah: whether in happiness or distress, drop your idols, seek the presence of the LORD. Run to GOD. SPRINT, don't walk. Be loyal in turning to Him. That's all you need to remember. God will take it from there. Hezekiah clung to the only One who would never "forsake or abandon" him. So can we.
“I cling to you; your right hand upholds me." Psalm 63:8 NIV
