God's Goodness, 4 Lessons from King Hezekiah to tighten your connection with God.
Hezekiah's Lesson #4: Remember what God has done.
Hezekiah experienced God's presence, blessing, and protection: "The Lord was with him, and wherever he went he prospered." 2 Kings 18:7 But that doesn't mean he didn't struggle.
Hezekiah became terminally ill at the young age of 39. He was at the height of his success and didn't want to die so he prayed to the Lord. God healed him. Imagine that! But Hezekiah's heart became proud. When ambassadors of Babylon's rulers came to "inquire about the miraculous sign", he showed them all his splendor. He did not give credit to the LORD for his mighty acts. What a mistake; one we could all easily make.
Pride is poison!
It's easy to take pride in our God-given blessings. Every good thing we have comes from Him (James 1:17), but we tend to take credit. People flatter us for our successes and we eat it up! num, num, pffff!
After Hezekiah died his son Manasseh became king and turned out to be the worst king in Judah, ever. His evil and detestable acts lasted for 55 years! Much of what Hezekiah had accomplished went up in smoke. The Bible constantly reminds us there is only one good and perfect King, Jesus.
Remember that Jesus is for you. He is with you. Delight in His blessings. Listen to His instruction. Cling to Him. Trust Him. AND DON'T FORGET HIM. Give thanks to Him. His grace is enough! Don't let pride steal your joy nor your legacy.
"All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord." Proverbs 16:2
