Trust in the LORD
Hezekiah's Lesson #1: Trust in the LORD!
When the Bible talks about God with a capital G or with capital LORD, it refers to YHWH. A specific, named deity. Not just an abstract notion of a god. He is like no other! He is trustworthy.
The LORD revealed Himself to the people of Israel as a mighty warrior, the God who saved them, their deliverer from physical harm, time and time again. "Hezekiah relied on the Lord God of Israel" 2 Kings 18:5 "He did what was right in the Lord’s sight just as his ancestor David had done." 2 Kings 18:3 And what did King David do? Not always, not perfectly, but mostly, David trusted in the LORD who had proven himself to be faithful, the same One the people of Israel sang to after they were miraculously delivered from the oppression of slavery.
So today, and this week–even if not always, not perfectly, but mostly–let us choose to trust in the LORD.
He is our warrior. He goes before us, behind us, and with us. He fights the biggest battles we face and could never win on our own.
“The Lord is my strength and my defense;
he has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
The Lord is a warrior;
the Lord is his name." Exodus 15:1-3
